Philip’s Focus

People have commented I have been getting long winded with my articles. Let me see if I can be quicker to the point this week.

Our Lay Leadership Team has begun our work for 2019 nominations. One of our opportunities is matching up gifts of persons with particular roles in the church administrative life. If you have input, you can talk to any of our team: Michelle Carmical, Suzy Chapman, Alicia Franklin, Gator Heath, Josie Kiser, John Patterson, Beth Russell, Ron Sacco, Mark Whitehead, Jackie Youngblood and Philip McVay.

The new sermon series begins this weekend and is entitled No Turning Back. In addition to our own writing and material from Exodus 14, we will also reference the book Red Sea Rules by Robert Morgan. As Israel, when we are “between a rock and a hard place” our only choice is to look up to God. In our life and in the church we choose among three directions; backward, stuck, or forward.   We seek to move forward trusting God with the future!

Our church will have our annual picnic Sunday at Liza Jackson Park at 1:00 pm. Relationship building is at the core of our church life. We hope you plan to attend and make some new friends.  We look forward to seeing you there!
