1. SHALIMAR UNITED METHODIST EDUCATION MISSION:
Our Christian education mission is to have your faith get fertilized through the wisdom that comes from studying God’s word. We believe that through Christian education, your roots will GROW down into Him, so that you will GROW in faith! That’s why we promote all of our education efforts under what we title our GROW program! This is an acronym for Get Roots Of Wisdom! Whether you need mass amounts of fertilizing, pruning and re-growth, or are ready for just a short burst of growth, we have a program for you!

3. GOD’S VISION OF GROWTH
God’s woods, rain forests, and meadows filled with wild flowers are an amazing example of nature. Often in nature, I see things like this- and think- how great thou ART. God’s work is so evident in the growth of nature. And as well, God’s work is so evident in the growth of his people. A member of our church states that “ I had someone write me a letter that said, “over the last two years you have grown into a beautiful woman and changed dramatically.” The fact that they had picked the time frame that was exactly two years and one month before I had been baptized as an adult- when I not only accepted Jesus as my Savior- but by Lordship, was an amazing confirmation of the change in my life.”
There is proof in the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. There is proof in the growth of his people. That is often our only witness to the world. How do I know Jesus and God are real? Because my life IS transformed!
One last thing to think about, the enemy does NOT want you armoring yourselves with the word of God. He will place hesitation, busyness, fear, and other obstacles in your way so that you won’t grow in your faith. The enemy is the great deceiver. He may even have you believing that you should spend this extra hour of quality time with your family if perhaps you and your spouse work, for instance. But if you are not willing to do one hour a week to demonstrate to your family, friends, and co-workers that GOD IS FIRST- then may we suggest that you are being deceived.
Let God grow you through His word. Let your transformed life be the witness that Jesus and God are real.

That being said, we want to pray for you:
Let your people hear your whispers and respond dear Lord. Have mercy on us when we say no to your promptings to grow ourselves. Thank you for being a patient God that continues to woo us. We pray your Spirit to be in and among your people and that we all will have the courage and faithfulness and boldness in Jesus name to say- YES. We pray for hungry hearts. We pray for obstacles to be removed. We pray for your will to be clear and confirming. We pray for a people of obedience to say yes to what needs to be done to put you first, to accept responsibility on our part to work on our growth. As told in the book of Matthews, the birds have no worries, for you feed them. We know you nourish and feed us through your word, but just like the birds, we need to work at getting the food, at getting the nutrition. The birds must work to get berries, or bugs, or worms, or fish. We must work at our growth, as well, through developing disciplines like prayer and Bible study, worship and living a life transformed.
LORD, we pray for those reading this, for our congregation, the seeking community at large, for those that are still figuring out their faith, for those that are growing in faith, and those that are mature in faith, that they all will feel the peace of having you meet them right where they are. You are a great and glorious God. May we say yes to you and your word. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
