At Shalimar United Methodist Church our vision is to nurture children to know and trust Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. We strive to provide an atmosphere of love so that children will seek the church as a sanctuary from the adversities of life for the rest of their lives. We seek to instill in children the responsibility to use their time and talents to share God’s love and to teach them the importance in meeting others needs both in their community and the world around them.

Children's Ministry Announcements Welcome to the Children’s Ministry page! Just for Parents: As you sit down for dinner together at night, ask your children about their day. Have them share with you one high and one low event that happened that day. You will be amazed how your relationship with your children will grow! Children’s Ministry Team Meeting: All are welcome as we plan upcoming events and programs in Children’s Ministry. Please meet in the Computer Lab on Tuesday, January 31st, 6:30 pm. I will bring dessert! Sunday School Schedule: from 9:30-10:30 am. All Sunday School classes are in the Courtyard area - please join us anytime! Our mission project: SOLES FOR (local) SOULS- we are asking for our entire church family to donate 1 pair of sneakers for our Back to School Bash in August - our Goal: 200 pairs of sneakers for the children in our community!!! Please drop off sneakers in the box by Miss Susan’s office. Sizes needed are: toddler size 11 to child size 5 (brand new or slightly used). Children’s Church: every Sunday, except Communion Sunday (the first Sunday of the month) for children 4 years – 2nd grade for 8:00, 11:00 and 11:07 am services. For 11:07 am attendees: Please register your child at the Children’s Ministry Check-in Table in the FLC gym on Sundays to get your child’s lanyard and your parent security card; you only have to do this once. Children’s Choir news: for kids 4 years–5th grade every Sunday evening at 5pm! You did a great job singing in church last Sunday- I am so proud of you all! Thank you to our choir leaders-Miss Kathy, Miss Dawn, Miss Susan, Miss Angie and Miss Susan Mims - you are awesome! Fish Factory News: a Sunday evening Bible program for kids 4 years-5th grade. 6:00-7:00 pm in the FLC Gym; snack supper (5:45 pm -$2). Our Fish Factory theme: D.O.G.: Depend on God! Each week we will have a different dog visit us. Thank you Miss Kathy and Mr. Charlie for bringing in your Maddie, the Golden Retriever- she is adorable. Our FF mission project: Dollar$ for Dog$- everyone bring in $1 each week to raise money for a seizure dog for one of our own children here at church! We have raised over $50 in just two weeks - GREAT JOB SO FAR!! Wednesday Night Bible Classes: 6:00–7:45 pm in the Courtyard We have three different classes for kids from kindergarten to 5th grade! Come check us out in the Courtyard Rooms for crafts, games and lots of Bible fun. 5ALIVES: 5th graders only - "Always Living In View of the Eternal Son" will resume on Friday, January 27th from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Computer Lab. Sunday Mornings
Children age 3 and up learn Bible truths to help them grow in their understanding
and in their spiritual walk with God.
9:30am -10:30am in the courtyard area
Acolytes
Children in 3rd grade thru 7th grade are invited to participate in our Acolyte Ministry. An
Acolyte assists in worship by lighting the candles, receiving the offering and assisting
with communion. They serve in either the 8:00 or 11:00 service about once a month.
Children's Sunday
Several times during the year, the children participate in the worship services as greeters, ushers, lay readers and prayer leaders. Children's artwork decorates the worship bulletins.
Children's Sermons
The children come forward during the 8:00 & 11:00 worship services for a brief sermon prepared
especially for them. They are dismissed and escorted to Children's Church.
There will be no children's sermon on Communion Sundays, which is the first of
every month. We highly encourage children to participate in Communion.
Children ages 4 through 2nd grade are dismissed to Children's Church following the children's sermon. There is a lesson, music, prayer and story time.

Children ages Pre K – 2nd grade are
invited to join us for children’s church. At 8am and 11am worship service,
children will come down to the front for a short sermon just for them then are
dismissed to the computer lab for some bible fun! At 11:07am worship service,
children are dismissed to the following rooms: for Pre K- kindergarten children
meet in FLC room 104, for children 1st-2nd grade meet us
in FLC room 105.
Wednesday night bible classes
Kids JAM – Jesus and Me- meets every Wednesday night from 6pm -8pm for children kindergarten – 2nd grade. Come and learn about God’s Awesome creation with us! Meet us in the courtyard area room 1.
Kids W.O.W.- Worship On Wednesday- That's the name of our children's bible class where 3rd through 5th Graders participate in Worship on Wednesdays during the school year after Wednesday night suppers. We meet in the children's computer lab in the courtyard from 6:00 p.m. - 8 p.m. for hands on Bible learning, games, crafts, science experiments and more. Even the too cool 4th & 5th grade boys love this class!
Communion
We encourage children to participate in the service of Holy Communion with their families on the 1st Sunday of each month.
Fish Factory Friends
Each week they children will be cooking or using food as part of their lesson!
Mission Project for Fish Factory:
Feeding the Hungry-kids need to bring in ONE canned good each week. Our Goal: to collect 1,000 cans for Sharing & Caring in Ft. Walton Beach! This programs ends at 7pm in the FLC. This program follows the school year only. No Fish Factory or Children's choirs during summer months.

Children’s choirs usually sing the fourth Sunday of each month and other times during the year. They present a Christmas musical and a spring musical. They have fun, learn spiritual truths, and learn musical skills as they participate with their friends under the direction of adult volunteers. Children’s Choir meets on Sundays at 4:30.

Children's Christmas Eve Service
This is a special service designed especially for children and their families. They participate in the telling and living of the Christmas story. Some may choose to dress in costume and become characters in the story and some choose to act out the story lines right in their seats.
Resurrection Celebration
At Easter we provide a wonderful time of activities and egg hunting as we brunch together in preparation for the celebration of Easter and the resurrection of Christ.
Fall Festival
We
provide a fun night of games, activities, food, candy, and prizes that is fun
for the whole family!
Summer Activities Include:
Vacation Bible School is a summer event filled with
spiritual adventures, games, crafts, science experiments and usually held mid
June for children ages 4 years -5th grade. There is a small registration fee to
help pay for costs of T-shirts only $5. For more info on VBS please contact

Elementary Camps
Blue Lake in Andalusia, Alabama is where children grades 3rd -5th grade go
for Winter Retreat. This 3 day event is usually held in late January/Early

Lake Forest Ranch, Macon, Mississippi is where children grades 3rd -5th
grade go for Summer Camp. This 5 day event is usually held in July. For more
