DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS
Kim Margold (programs@shalimar-umc.org)
Kim moved to the Ft. Walton Beach area in 1993 after being born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri where she had received her B.A. in Communications from Webster University.  Her background includes work in professional photography, audio-visual and the health club industry.  She enjoys various outdoor activities like biking or softball and movies when the sun goes down.

After visiting a friend on the Emerald Coast she decided the beauty and southern feel of the area was the place to be.  She also found an immediate church home at SUMC and new friends as a member of the choir.  Kim shared, “When I first moved here the caring members of the choir really became my family away from home and through Stephen Ministry and Emmaus my spiritual growth really expanded”.  In the past she has been involved in many activities and committees in the church including SPR and Trustees and has a passion for the well-being of this church body and for missions.  Before coming on staff she worked as a personal trainer and in management in the local hospitality industry for five years.  Her one brother’s family, including two nephews, lives in Springfield, Illinois where her parents have now moved.  

YOUTH DIRECTOR
Wayne Walker (youth@shalimar-umc.org)
Wayne was born in Columbus Georgia and moved to Fort Walton Beach when he was 5 years old and has never left the area. He is a graduate of Choctaw, OWJC, and UWF.

Wayne and his high school sweetheart, Patti, have been married for 28 years. They have 3 Children; Starr (25) who attends Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, KY, Joshua (23) who is a worship leader and the assistant youth director of Shalimar UMC, and Shelley (21) who is a dancer with a Christian dance company in Houston, TX.

Wayne has previously served as the director of youth ministries at Shalimar UMC for a total of 7 years. He is a Certified Lay Speaker and has served as the Lay Leader for Shalimar UMC.

ASSISTANT YOUTH DIRECTOR
Josh Walker (youth@shalimar-umc.org)
Josh was born in Fort Walton Beach. He is a graduate of Choctaw where he played both football and baseball. He has attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL, where he played on the baseball team, OWC, and UWF.

Josh met his wife, Ashley, at a youth “Rock The Universe” event and they got married in December of 2006. They have a bulldog named Ivory. 

Josh previously served as a member of the contemporary service praise team for Shalimar UMC, and is currently the worship leader for the 11:07 Freedom Service.

Josh enjoys worshiping with youth, and building relationships by just hanging out together.

 

DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS
Susan McLain (Children@shalimar-umc.org)
Susan McLain and her husband Mike, have been married for over 16 years.  She  has been in the area for over 35 years.   Her first year was at Cherokee Elementary on Eglin AFB and has since moved up thru the area schools landing at FSU and majoring in Art.

She worked as a Defense Contractor for many years illustrating Defense manuals.   When the children, Katie (age 9) and Molly (age 6) were born, she began work as a full time mother and part-time volunteer.  Her work has lead her to SUMC where she wanted her children to grow and know their Savior Jesus Christ.  Working as a volunteer for many years in children’s ministries as choir leader, children’s church leader,  Craft leader for VBS, Sunday School teacher  and many other jobs, she believes children are a blessing from God above.  Her favorite scripture is :” Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6 and Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
